How to Use DUOclip

1. Shoot your 5 seconds

Press the shutter and the ring counts five seconds. Use the icons on the preview to choose the front or back camera, DUAL (both at once), sound, and whether to show the time. After shooting you can play it back and retake it.

2. Send it to friends

Send your 5 seconds to all your friends, to the friends you pick, or to anyone you give an invitation link. Your followers (people who follow you but whom you have not approved yet) are also included when you send to all your friends or pick friends. You can remove or block followers in the app. DUO Replies are open for 24 hours from when the sender starts the call for DUO Replies. You can connect with friends by an exact ID search or an invitation link. Anyone who has the link may be able to open it, so choose who you share your ID and links with.

3. Make a DUO with a DUO Reply, then react

When someone records a 5-second DUO Reply, the two clips join into one DUO. The person who shot first can react to the DUO Reply with a sticker or a note, or send a DUO Reaction that records their face while they watch. You choose each time whether to record a DUO Reaction.

4. Choose a BEST

The person who shot first can choose one DUO Reply as the BEST. A DUO chosen as BEST is shown to everyone the DUO reached. People who open a valid invitation link and sign in to the app after the announcement can also see it. The result notification goes to everyone who sent a DUO Reply.

5. Look back with REPLAY

REPLAY puts photos or videos from your device next to a new 5 seconds and makes them into one video. REPLAY is made on your device and nobody else sees it unless you send it yourself.

6. Automatic subtitles and translation

DUOclip creates subtitles from what is said and translates them into the viewer's device language. Turn them on or off with the translation icon on the viewing screen. If subtitles cannot be made, the video plays without them.

7. The official DUOclip account

The official DUOclip account is everyone's friend and sends official DUOs. It may also send a DUO Reply to your DUO: a short video in which its characters say a line. The line and the voice of these DUO Replies are made with AI. You can block the official account like any other user.

8. Saving and notifications

You can save DUOs and BESTs you are allowed to watch to your device's photo library. Turn notifications for new DUO Replies and reactions on or off in My Page.

9. DUOclip Plus and ads

DUOclip Plus is an optional auto-renewing paid plan. With Plus, you see no ads and can choose photos and videos from your whole library in REPLAY (without Plus, the last 30 days). A Plus badge appears beside your name in friend lists and profiles, and you can choose your app icon. You can subscribe from My Page, or from the notice shown when you try to pick a photo or video older than 30 days in REPLAY. The price is shown in the store, billed monthly or yearly, and new subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Payment goes through the App Store or Google Play, and you can cancel at any time from the store's subscription management. Deleting your account does not stop the subscription, so cancel it in the store first.

Without Plus, you may see ads in the Library and in the list of received DUOs. They are never shown while you record, send, make a DUO Reply or choose a BEST, and not during the first 7 days after you create your account. If you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before showing ads, and you can change it at any time from My Page > "Ad privacy settings". On iOS, you can change tracking permission in your device settings. Ads and Plus are being rolled out gradually, so you may not see them yet.
